Sunrise Wedding Dress Shoot at Southwold Beach
We shot this one at sunrise on Southwold beach: a vintage wedding dress, our model Sophia Galione, and the first light of the day coming up over the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Early starts are a running theme in this project, and mornings like this are the reason why.
Photography and Styling
Elegant Exposures
Bob Foyers photographed the shoot, planning the timing around the tide and the sunrise. The idea was to set the 1950s-style wedding dress against the beach at its quietest and best.
Sue Hardy: Fashion Stylist
Sue styled the wardrobe and accessories so nothing fought with the setting. Her choices kept the whole set feeling of a piece.

Floral Arrangements
The Southwold Flower Company
The Southwold Flower Company provided the flowers, seasonal British blooms that sat naturally in the beach setting rather than looking imported into it.

Model
Sophia Galione
Sophia Galione modelled the dress. She has a lot of fashion and editorial experience, and it shows: she held elegant shapes on a cold beach at first light and made it look effortless.

Location
Southwold
Southwold gave us the beach, the pier and long clear views along the coast. At sunrise the town is quiet, the light is soft and warm, and we had the sand almost to ourselves.

Why Sunrise
Early light does things you cannot recreate later in the day. It rakes across the sand, warms the white lace and keeps the shadows soft. With the coastal views, the dress and the flowers, everything we needed was already in the frame.
Southwold Beach and Pier
The pier gave us a strong backdrop with the sun rising behind it, and the rocks and waves added a rougher texture against the softness of the dress.
The Dress: A Touch of Vintage Elegance
The dress was a 1950s-style white lace design with a cream sash, fully lined with a tulle petticoat. Lace photographs beautifully in low directional light, and the classic shape worked with the beach rather than against it.

What a Shoot Like This Teaches
Working with a bigger team, a florist, a stylist and an experienced model, changes what is possible in a single morning. Every collaborator solves problems you would otherwise have to solve yourself, and the lessons carry straight into commissioned work.
Final Thoughts
This one came together because everyone did their job well: styling, flowers, modelling and light all pulling in the same direction. The set from this morning remains one of the strongest in the project.
If you are planning a shoot of your own on the Suffolk coast, Southwold is hard to beat. Commissioned photography, including weddings, is booked through Foyers Photography below.
