Seven Styled Looks for Alfred Dubois Millinery with Sophia

This session was another collaboration with Sue Hardy of Alfred Dubois Millinery, photographed in the studio with Sophia modelling. The brief was to show Sue’s hats and headpieces as part of complete styled looks, seven outfits in all.

Why Styled Product Photography Works

When customers cannot pick a product up, the photograph has to do the examining for them. Texture, colour and detail all need to read clearly, and a hat photographed on a person tells you far more than the same hat on a stand: how it sits, what it suits, what it says.

Outfit 1: Black Hat and Leather

The first outfit paired a classic black hat with a bright feather accent against a leather jacket. The interest is in the contrast: soft expression, hard textures. We worked through a series of portraits, moving Sophia’s gaze from off-camera to straight down the lens.

Outfit 2: Victorian Blue

The second series used a textured blue dress with ruffled layers and a Victorian feel. Soft lighting kept the detail in the dress and hair accessories, and the antique chair gave the seated poses somewhere natural to settle.

Outfit 3: Pink and Purple Roses

The third outfit was a pink dress with vivid purple roses as the headpiece. This set was allowed to be playful, and the colour did most of the talking.

Outfit 4: Black Dress, Dramatic Hats

A classic black dress carried the dramatic hats and jewellery in the fourth set. Keeping the dress simple let the accessories take the frame.

Outfit 5: Leather and Trim

The fifth set put a black leather coat against a brightly trimmed hat. We ran from bold, planted stances to a relaxed moment with a glass of sparkling wine, and the looser frames are the ones I keep coming back to.

Outfits 6 and 7: Old-World Glamour

The final two looks leaned into old-world glamour with a modern edge: rich textures, warm colours and detailed outfits that reward looking closely.

Wrapping Up

Seven outfits in a day is a lot, and it worked because Sue’s styling was planned to the last detail and Sophia can change character as fast as she changes hats. If you need product or fashion photography for your own work, it is booked through Foyers Photography.
