Elegant Exposures Fashion Shoot in Aldeburgh
The Elegant Exposures fashion shoot was a creative project aimed at capturing the fusion of elegance and coastal beauty in the heart of Aldeburgh. Working closely with stylist Sue Hardy and the talented model Sophia, we ventured into various scenic locations within the town. Each outfit was thoughtfully chosen to reflect a different aspect of fashion, from vintage-inspired gowns to modern, edgy looks. As the photographer behind this project, I aimed to bring out the best of each outfit and location, using the natural light and textures of Aldeburgh to enhance every shot.

A Unique Collaboration
The success of this project was due in large part to the collaboration between myself, Sue Hardy, and Sophia. Sue not only styled the outfits but also took charge of the hair, makeup, and jewellery. Sophia, with her versatility and natural grace, perfectly embodied the essence of each look, whether it was a boho-chic ensemble or a grand, vintage ballgown. Together, we created something truly special in one of Suffolk’s most picturesque coastal towns.
Exploring Aldeburgh Through Fashion Photography
Aldeburgh, with its blend of natural and historical beauty, provided the perfect backdrop for this shoot. From the iconic Aldeburgh Beach to the steps leading up to the High Street, each location offered a unique contrast to the outfits. This outdoor fashion photoshoot not only highlighted the charm of Aldeburgh but also demonstrated how fashion can come alive when paired with the right setting.
1. Outfit One: Black & Pink Satin Ballgown
The first look featured a stunning black and pink satin ballgown, accentuated by a pink net petticoat. This outfit was shot along the path and stairs leading to Aldeburgh’s High Street. The vintage-inspired fashion paired beautifully with the historic stonework and pathways of the town, creating a timeless and elegant scene. The soft lighting helped highlight the satin sheen of the gown, making this black and pink vintage gown photoshoot one of the most striking looks of the day.
2. Outfit Two: Boho & Blyth
The second look contrasted the formality of the ballgown with a more casual, boho-chic vibe. The outfit included tan cotton jeans, a leopard print blouse, a wool tank top, and a silky leopard print bomber jacket. Shot at two locations – the Ballroom Art Gallery and the beach – this look brought a more relaxed, artistic feel to the shoot. The natural light on the beach and the softer tones in the gallery worked perfectly to showcase the warm, earthy tones of the outfit.
3. Outfit Three: Satin Blouse and Tulle Skirt with Leather Jacket
For the third look, we styled Sophia in a satin purple blouse, a lilac tulle skirt, and a black leather jacket. This combination of soft and edgy fabrics made for a visually compelling contrast. The shoot took place on Aldeburgh Beach, where the rugged landscape added a dramatic element to the fashion photography. The wind, sand, and sea all played their part, enhancing the overall mood of this modern vintage fashion photography session.
4. Outfit Four: Grey Taffeta Ballgown
The final look was a showstopper – a grey taffeta ballgown, provided by Portabello East in Halesworth. We chose to shoot this outfit at the famous Scallop sculpture on Aldeburgh Beach. The contrast between the structured steel of the sculpture and the flowing fabric of the gown made for a dynamic and visually stunning composition. The sculpture, a tribute to composer Benjamin Britten, is one of Aldeburgh’s most iconic landmarks, and it added an artistic depth to the shoot that truly captured the spirit of the town.
